In 2026, both the state of Virginia and Montgomery County will be celebrating their 250th anniversary! To celebrate this special occasion, a variety of events, exhibits, and educational activities will be happening throughout 2025-2026. To learn more about MC250, click here. Outdoor Recreation and Sports Tourism Asset Inventory

At the beginning of 2024, Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Montgomery County Regional Tourism partnered with Huddle Up Group to do an outdoor recreation and sports tourism asset inventory for the county. The study provided an overall destination score for sports tourism, as well as recommendations for next steps. Click here to read the report.

Christiansburg Industrial Institute, which was open from 1866-1966, was the first high school for African American students in Southwest Virginia. Today, its legacy is preserved and shared by @cburginstitute. You can visit the monument pictured here and see the last remaining building from the campus on Scattergood Drive in Christiansburg, and visit Christiansburg Institute Inc's museum at 125 Arrowhead Trail in Christiansburg to learn more about this historic school. 📚️🎓️
